Today we celebrate the 
Feast of St. Thomas, Apostle


Thomas the Apostle, also called Didymus, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. Thomas is commonly known as "Doubting Thomas" because he doubted Jesus' resurrection when first told of it; later, he confessed his faith, "My Lord and my God," on seeing Jesus' crucifixion wounds.

 His birth and death dates are unknown, but his feast day is celebrated July 3. He lived before the formal establishment of the Catholic Church but is recognized as the patron saint of Southern India and Pakistan, and of architects.

This week's tough Catholic question...

The doctrine of the Trinity means:
a. There is one God who manifests himself in the three distinct roles of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
b. Since the Resurrection there have been four persons in the Trinity, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ the God-Man.
c. In the Godhead there is only one divine person, and he takes on different.aspects according to his actions as Creator, Redeemer, or Sanctifier.
d. There are three Gods who work so closely together that it is proper to call them one God.
e. None of the above.

is being attacked by the evil one; there is a force trying to silence Christian believers.
In San Francisco, the statue of St. Junipero Serra was torn down.
How well do those who do such things, really know the saints and what encompassed  their lives?

Lord Jesus Christ, in the darkness of death you have created light; in the abyss of the deepest loneliness the protective power of your love abides now and always; in the midst of your hiddenness we can sing the Hallelujah of the saved.
Grant us the humble simplicity of faith, which will not swerve when you call us into hours of darkness and abandonment, when everything seems to be called into question.
Grant us in this time when your work seems to be immersed in mortal struggle, enough light not to lose you, enough light that we can become light to others in still greater need of it.
Let the mystery of your Easter joy shine like the light of dawn on our days; grant us that we may truly be people of Easter in the midst of the Holy Saturday of history.
Grant through the bright and dark days of these times we may be of good cheer on the path towards your coming glory.
