Deacon Ward's Almost Daily Message

Monday June 8, 2020

Because most all of our parishioners are getting daily updated information and announcements (Holy Mass times, etc.) from our website (materdeivermont.com) and from our Facebook page, beginning today I will not be bringing you the same information, but instead will use this space to bring things more relevant to strengthening our faith...with prayers and reflections...all for strengthening our relationship with our loving and merciful God.

So, with this in mind...

Continuing to remember all of our priests in our prayers...
The next time you encounter a priest, tell them how much you appreciate them and that you are praying for them...know that they're always praying for you!

“Pray for Our Priest and Deacons”

Today, we pray for Fr. Patrick Forman of our diocese…and also for Deacon Dennis Moore.

"Gracious  and loving God,
we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocations. Set their souls on fire with love of your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest."
 Amen..

A Final thought...and lesson!

Do we as practicing Catholics know what is expected of us in living out our faith?

Our Catholic faith gives us
The Five Precepts of the Church.

Do we understand what a precept is?
A precept, generally speaking, is an authoritative command or instruction.
Our own Catholic faith enjoins each of us to do certain things...or refrain from something.
We have obligations as Catholics...and they are:

Participate in Mass on all Sundays and holy days of obligation...and rest from servile labor.

Observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church.

Confess your sins at least once a year.

You shall receive the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist at least during the Easter season.

You should help support and provide for the needs of the Church.

...living these precepts pleases God...and if needed, pray for God's help!

🌹🌹🌹🌹

As night falls...I offer this prayer:

"I lift up my heart and my prayers
to you, O Lord.
And ask that your blessings illumine my heart,
and that by loving truly in your name,
and living your will,
Your radiance will touch all whom I meet
today, tomorrow and for ever."
Amen.
